Discover how an aspiring airline pilot and a teacher, Tom Bird and Jeremy Cassell, both ended up working in sales and then went on to build two six-figure businesses providing training to organisations around the world and be profiled in the Financial Times in 2013.
More from Tom and Jeremy
Tom Bird and Jeremy Cassell are ‘accidental salesmen’. Neither of them worked particularly hard at school or university, and neither of them planned a career in sales. They didn’t dream of their perfect company car or the cut and thrust of the sales meetings with clients. But like many people selling was what they ended up doing, ranging from hair products to crisps and computer software. And they found they were very good at it.
They have gone on to teach thousands of people in business how to sell, how to influence and how to develop their businesses. As well as having their own consultancy, Release the Potential Ltd, they are also founder partners of the Moller PSF Group based in Cambridge, the UK’s leading provider of training and coaching for professional service firms.
They are the authors of Europe’s top selling and award winning sales book, ‘Brilliant Selling’, as well as ‘The Financial Times Guide to Business Training’ and their latest e-book ‘The C3 Model of Influencing Field Guide™’.
As authors, trainers, coaches and speakers Tom and Jeremy work with a whole range of businesses and individuals teaching them how to sell through influence. They know the old approach to selling doesn’t work anymore, and if people feel they are being sold to then the barriers usually go up. In fact, if you ask a room of people who likes being sold to, less than 5% will say ‘yes’.
Selling through influence isn’t just about positioning yourself as an expert or an authority. Tom and Jeremy have created a new system for becoming a skilled influencer that focuses on behaviour rather than learnt skills, so allowing influence to become a natural part of who you are.
