Believing we don’t have to be in the mindset that our business will always do one thing – or that our careers will always be doing one thing, Liz Weston founded Weston Communications to provide social media, marketing and communications services in the B2B (business to business) and B2C (business to consumer) markets.
More from Liz Weston
Liz started out in the regular corporate world – the Financial Times Business, EMAP publications and then Marketing and Communications for a University. After having children she didn’t want to do international travel whilst they were small, so took redundancy and set up her business.
It was supposed to be a sideline that brought in money to “top them up” but grew so quickly that her husband had to become a stay at home dad, whilst Liz worked every hour she could, along with her growing team.
Initially, Liz worked as a contractor to NHS Maternity Units, ensuring that they would meet the requirements of the CNST (their insurance) from a paperwork for new mothers perspective.
She then travelled to San Francisco with the High Growth Programme and realised that she would need to go digital – and quickly – to ensure her work was ahead of the market. Liz still has some NHS clients today, but the majority of her work with Weston Communications is in social media, marketing and communications for B2B and B2C customers.
