I’ve previously blogged about the whole product launch process – a bit of background, our first tentative steps, what it is and why you need a product launch and yesterday I blogged the first draft of the marketing plan for Heather’s first solo album.
The last blog post particularly left me feeling a bit unsatisfied, like it was all busy work action taking, and not enough context, so perhaps it’s time to mesh the two – bring the parts of the marketing plan under the umbrella of the product launch process again. And even, perhaps, to tie it in with the steps outlined in the Robert Cialdini “Influence” book which I included in my Top 20 Business Books of all time here.
I’m a bit hamstrung though as my Jeff Walker “Product Launch Formula” boxed set is in a box in my ex-husband’s garage which is a bit inconvenient to say the least. As I haven’t launched anything for a while I feel the need to swot up on it a bit.
Why my ex’s garage? Jeff Walker is currently residing, along with my Christmas decorations, beach towels, saucepans and various bits of art which were the only things, weirdly, I saved from my old house when I left in such a hurry last January as my life collapsed, temporarily, around my ears. Yes, I suppose I COULD go and dig it out, but he’s moving next week and delivering the boxes to my new abode, and that will save me going into his garage. I have an S-word phobia so would rather do ANYTHING than go in there.
I did have a Word document that detailed the whole product launch process, from the Money Gym days when we didn’t launch so much as a webinar without using Jeff’s process – but can I find it now? No, I can’t. Lots of other stuff (notes by other people, my blank product launch calendar page) but not what I really need – Jeff’s mindmaps.
Aha, just typing that made me go and look at Google to see if I could find a mindmap of Jeff’s process and I found this very useful video (one of two) by a guy called Michael Roberts showing how to use a free mindmapping software to mindmap a product launch! How cool is that?
