TBSF 016: Never Having To Sell Yourself Again
It breaks my heart how many would-be entrepreneurs never get started because they don’t like the idea of marketing and sales. If you constantly worry about having to sell yourself in order to be successful in business, this podcast is for you, as I’ll reveal how you can never have to sell yourself ever again.
TBSF 015: You Know Best About Your Business
This week I talk about how scary it can be, to know that you are always in charge of your business and that, really, nobody else knows what’s best for your business but you. However, there is a magic tool that you can use to make sure you don’t make the wrong decisions.
You may remember when I wrote about setting goals for 2012 I arrived at 3 simple goals for my business and my life. They were:
103 Mentoring & Mastermind Clients for TBSF
Lose 1lb a week till I get to my goal weight of 10.5 stone
Get out more and have more fun (might include dating, not sure yet)
I’m certainly succeeding with moving forwards on 1 and 3 but 2 is faltering a bit. I might go back to LighterLife, but I would rather do it slow and steady.
I’m going out to the Jazz every Tuesday and Jazz Listening Class on Thursdays and I might try Zumba or singing classes on Mondays.
Going back to No 1. my traffic is steady and converting at around 10% to subscribers and new people are taking my up on my trial period offer via the 3 Secrets of Business Success videos all the time.
I’ve added more social proof on the info page, in the form of Facebook comments from existing clients, about what they get out of belonging to a Mastermind Group like this one.
I have to keep fighting the urge to create new coaching programmes and stay focused on just attracting that magic 103, I keep wanting to create and launch new stuff (that’s the Creator part of my Creator/Star/Mechanic in Roger Hamilton’s Wealth Dynamics terms).
Will I succeed in not getting distracted? Well, no, not really….
As you probably know by now, I’m in charge of marketing for Bear Paw Music, my sister’s new company, formed after recording her debut album “At Last” described as a collection of intimate love songs.
The only problem with that is that when we started, she had no mailing list to speak of, hardly any traffic to her website and hardly any other marketing assets apart from a few dodgy iphone videos on YouTube.
She also has an aversion to appearing too pushy, not wanting to seem to be putting herself “above” her contemporaries.
** Sigh **
That’s the "not wanting to sell yourself" syndrome I talk about in my new podcast, although I wasn’t referring directly to Heather in that. She’s also wary of pissing people off by emailing them too often (once a week would be too often!) or annoying people who have “liked” her Facebook Page.
But the fact that Heather now has just under 1000 CD’s in boxes in her spare bedroom – which stare reproachfully at her every time she goes in there – means she is slowly recognising that the damn things won’t be selling themselves anytime soon.
So we need to get busy. We HAVE secured a physical and digital distribution deal with …
After I wrote my Business Blog diary post yesterday I was left feeling a little bit unsatisfied with myself.
Sure, adding new original content each week to a business blog, which is always going to be naturally full of key phrases, is always good for the search engines, but a Business Blog Diary style post in and of itself is not targeting specific phrases so I don’t really write them for the search engines. I write them for my readers (or so I thought….) and they do often get shared around so I think you like them.
After I had hit publish on yesterday’s business blog diary entry however, I found myself asking myself unaccustomed questions like….
Why did I bother?
What value did I add this week?
Why do I keep going?
Especially as, with the appearance of the Share & Like buttons, you rarely get comments nowadays.
As often happens, as I wandered round the business blogophere, coffee in hand (my Sunday morning treat) I found other business bloggers musing on the same topic
Sponsored this week by Total Business Cart, all you need to create an online business.

‘Thank you so much for your help today Nicola, I’ve only just joined (Mentoring Programme) and already I’m making progress… the fog is lifting " Ursula O’Connell, Ireland
